Wii U Exclusive Title Deliberately Revealed Late

So, it would seem that the ‘U’ in Wii U stands for Ubisoft.  On Tuesday evening, June 8th, Nintendo gathered a select group of journalists back together for a more intimate and exclusive E3 press briefing.  It turns out that Ubisoft has been hard at work coding a Wii U exclusive title.  Something called “Killer Freaks From Outer Space.”  I can’t help but feel that should always be spoken in a loud tone of voice and with heavy reverb.  And judging by Ubisoft’s press statement, they might well agree…

“In 2012, the world is going down the drain, fast…

Reams of alien ships have crashed into our planet, and these big wads of diseased, planet-eating, phlegm are spawning hordes of insanely vicious killers! The dangerous and degenerate creatures from outer space we call FREAKS seek to eradicate the human species with single-minded fury.

You’re a survivor; a winner — humanity’s only freaking hope! Those raunchy aliens missed their chance to put you and your buddies down. And now you’re going to make them regret it — one slimy alien body-part at a time!

Immerse yourself in this psychotic, arcade-style, 4-player co-op shooter; and just try and keep your head…”

The screenshots IGN acquired are intriguing to be sure.  They’re taken from current development progress and are therefore incomplete.  It looks every bit like an Xbox 360 title, in terms of graphics thus far.  Also it’s not likely to be a game for lightweights.  More to the point, this is not Raving Rabbids you’ll be fighting.  That said, it is a little cartoonish and manic looking.  I wonder if they’re going for a bit of a 50′s sci-fi sort of feel.

So, what we know is it’s expected to be fast paced, will have multi-player and cooperative play and it is a shooter.  The use of the term “arcade-style” makes me wonder if it’s going to be a rail-shooter.  We’ll simply have to wait for more information.
