Battlefield 3 Could Convince Me to Play More Modern Warfighters
So I’ve always been a believer in Frostbite engine, just not the games. It’s always been nice to hear how cooperation was encouraged but yet again, it’s a modern warfare style shooting game. Battlefield is seriously peaking my interest though. I was browsing through our stack of stuff and started watching the footage from E3. I ran across a tank battle. I thought I was watching real footage. It took me about two minutes to figure out that I was looking at a game. Seriously, this is the best I’ve ever seen the frostbite engine perform. The lighting and dust effects are so true to life that it’s damn near real life. I then watch someone elses interview with one of the developers and found out that they developed a new version of the game engine just for this game. It really, really shows. Some other interesting things of note are that you get extra points for completing objectives and supporting other players. You don’t necessarily get more points for getting more frags. Multiplayer is now also going to feature a deathmatch mode as well as something called conquest and a few others that they will not mention. Either way, this has me convinced of it’s awesomeness enough to have me already preording this mammoth of a shooter. B3 is coming soon to just about everything.

I have to agree. I’ve avoided most contemporary timeline combat games because they don’t look real enough compared to what I know they’re trying to represent. Battlefield 3 has done a lot to resolve that issue. I do have plans on buying that game. So, that’s a first for me as well.
