So, if you are sitting here reading this and you have not played this Sid Meier’s Civilization 5, then I need you to do me a huge favor either, go on Steam and download this game or go to your local gaming store and pick it up. While its downloading, come back over and checkout what you get to look forward to.
Ok, for you few who have never played a Civilization game, then I will quickly explain what you do, don’t worry super fans it will be quick (plus would a refresher be that bad?). Civilization 5 is a turn-based strategy game from a long linage of great games. Basically number one in this game there really is no campaign which… eh… not too upset about that, but you will select a world (which can be HUGE) and then your civilization. The choices of civilization range from United States, to Incan, to Rome,to India. Each Civilization has their own perks and specialized units that will aid in you endeavors. This game also gives you all the tools you need to create your massive empire, or completely dig it into the ground (which defiantly is a bummer and can easily be done). So throughout the game you will progress through the centuries while you expand and create new technologies and new units.
There are a few different ways to actually win the game such as: Military Conquest- self explanatory, Scientific Research – you win the space race, Diplomatic Victory – create and lead the United Nations, and Utopia Project – Which is basically filling up your entire political culture tree (which you will progress and get one at a time)
Now you know the gist, say goodbye to 8 hours in a blink of an eye.
First and foremost Civ 5′s graphics are absolutely amazing. There are no longer giant units that woodenly hit the enemy units. Now there is a platoons of soldiers or units that you will actually see attack another fortified groups of soldiers which is actually pretty impressive. Second major plus is the fact that those of you who were not huge Civ 4 fans were probably pissed about the crappy UI. Well guess what my friends, they finally fixed it making the game very enjoyable.
Now I know this is a pretty short review, but to be honest there is so very much in this game you gotta check it out for yourself.
Pros:
Great Graphics
Improved UI
Hours of fun
Cons:
Can’t stack units anymore
AI is kind of a prick
